Sea & River House is located just off Hy. 1, about one mile from the end of Highway 128, at 1440 Navarro Bluff Road, which is midway between Albion and Elk (see Google map below). If you have the time, and the weather is clear, a ride up the Shoreline Highway 1 hugging the coast is one of the most staggeringly beautiful drives anywhere in the world. About 20 minutes after the Golden Gate Bridge, take Exit 450B off of US 101 into San Rafael, and follow San Francis Drake Blvd. to Highway 1. The drive takes about 3 hours up to Sea and River House in good weather. If not, you can save time by driving most of the way up the middle of the state on US 101, and then cross over to the coast on Highway 128. Because Sea & River House is at the intersection where Highway 128 comes into a "T" with Hy. 1, you can avoid Highway 1 at those times when fog may make that road treacherous. The drive up from the Golden Gate Bridge to the turn off of US 101 onto Hy. 128 at Cloverdale is about an hour an a half. Highway 128 is a lovely winding road, first through the Navarro Valley wine country, where you can sample wines at the many vineyards along the way, and then, next, be awed as you proceed through the Navarro Redwood Forest on the final leg of your drive. Depending upon whether you take time to enjoy the scenery, it can take an hour to an hour and a half.
For the final leg, just before Highway. 128 reaches the ocean, you will see a sign to turn left for Highway 1 South. This turn takes you over a bridge crossing the Navarro River, and then proceeds to wind up to the bluffs that girdle the river valley. From the left turn onto the bridge, go 1.2 miles until you see a sign on the right for the turnoff to Navarro Ridge Road, which is a small frontage road off of Highway 1. Turn right for 10 feet to Navarro Bluff Rd., and immediately turn left. Sea & River House is the second house on your left with a blue sign and our address, 1440 Navarro Bluff Rd. The house , as labeled, is just off Shoreline Highway.
